Lifestyle of a Performer

By:Genesis Conrad

We all see them walking around the school, hair in curlers and the emblem on the the T-shirts. They all look tired yet accomplished, putting in hours of time into their performance and overall look. This is the lifestyle of a show choir performer here at Teays Valley.  From the summer to the very end of the school year, the Glamorous Edition and Prominent Rendition artists. Before school even begins, these singers and dancers are learning the songs to the new show they will be performing from January to April. Once school is in session there are laborious rehearsals and work-outs for the teams to bring the heat. Then, after Christmas break, the competition season is here. Every other weekend waking up at four in the morning to arrive at the school and endure the long drive to the competition location. We don’t even want to start at what happens once the performers arrive to the location! Then it’s done by ten or so, and the long drive back home. Between rehearsals and the constant sickness everyone in the choirs gets at the same exact time, the life of a show choir guy/gal is definitely NOT easy. Don’t believe me? Ask the performers themselves.
