Teays Valley hosted Amanda Monday night in a make-up MSL girls soccer matchup. The lady Vikings entered the game with a handful of players out due to injury and illness but battled hard throughout much of the first half to hold their own. In the 16th minute Alyssa Evans cut inside onto her right foot and chipped a shot over Sammy Crompton to give the Aces the first half lead. Both teams battled hard but Teays Valley started the second half with a resurgence as they began to put together more of an attack behind Haley Allen and Savannah Patterson. In the midfield Katie Rowe, Bri Waller and Skylar Davis battled hard as both teams struggled to possess the ball. The lady Vikings would get the equalizer in the 66th minute when junior Bella Russo beat the Amanda goalkeeper from 30 yd. out on a free kick. The final ten minutes was frenetic as both teams fought hard to an eventual 1-1 tie. "Give credit to Amanda as their girls played really hard," said TV coach Jason Herbert. "Given the players we had out today, we couldn't be more proud of our girls for such a great team effort. It's great to see them come together like that and give such an all out effort for each other." Crompton finished with 14 saves for TV while Young had 5 for Amanda. The lady Vikings travel to Whetstone Wednesday.
